LOUISVILLE, Ga. — The last suspect in a drive-by shooting in Jefferson County on Father’s Day is in custody, Jefferson County District Attorney Hayward Altman said Wednesday.

Darryus Sergio Jackson, 22, of Wadley, turned himself in to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night, Altman said.

Jackson is the last of 12 suspects being held at the Jefferson County jail in connection with what authorities have called a gang-related drive-by shooting that killed one man and wounded another.

Officers were called to Fifth Street in Louisville shortly after midnight June 16. Two men – Kenneth Quarterman Jr., 23, of Augusta, and Charles Lewis Brown III, 25, of Wrens – each had been shot in the head. Brown also was shot in the hand.

Quarterman was taken to Jefferson Hospital and then airlifted to Georgia Regents University in Augusta, where he later was pronounced dead.

Brown was treated at Jefferson Hospital and released.

Altman has said each of the 12 suspects has been charged with murder in Quarterman’s death.
