An Evans woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident Saturday on Interstate 20 in Taliaferro County.

Amy Minick Damm, 35, was travelling west when her 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe hydroplaned, left the roadway, and slammed into a tree on the driver side, according to the Georgia State Patrol. A 16-year-old boy and 9-year-old girl were also in the vehicle.

Damm was airlifted to Georgia Regents Medical Center and later died. The children were transported by ambulance, according to the GSP.

All three were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

God be with this family in the coming days...

There are three young children (two were in the accident) who no longer have their mother. The oldest child lost his father a number of years bacl. It's heartbreaking. :-(

Please keep this family in your prayers.

Hydroplaning on I-20

has cost many people their lives. It can be like ice skating at 80 mph in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

I offer my deepest sympathies to this family, and my best wishes for consolation in their loss and a speedy and complete recovery for their children.

I just don't know what it is

I just don't know what it is on I-20 through McDuffie and Taliaferro counties. Nearly 40 years of driving and I can honestly say that it's that only that stretch of highway that I've ever had experience with hydroplaning...multiple times...and multiple times in a the same rainstorm. And, I drive like an old grandpa in downpours.
Condolences to friends and family Ms. Damm...especially to her grieving children.

Condolences

More people ought to take advanced driving and defensive driving classes. They save lives.
