Georgia Regents University police and sheriff’s deputies have arrested two people in the theft of two Honda Accords from a downtown parking deck. One of the vehicles crashed into a pole as the thieves fled. Both Hondas were recovered.

According to a police report, university officers were called to the parking deck on 15th Street about 5:30 a.m. Sunday to file a stolen-vehicle report. The victim told police she had parked her blue Honda Accord in the parking deck at 1:30 a.m. and returned to find it missing. A witness told police he saw three black males and one black woman wander through the parking deck and break into a Honda Civic.

While taking the report, the officer saw a black Honda Accord traveling the wrong direction in the parking deck. The report said the blue Accord stopped and two black men fled on foot.

Police later found the black Accord at R.A. Dent Boulevard and St. Sebastian Way, where it had crashed into a light pole.

GRU police apprehended Khallid Wright, 17, and Deandre Mays, 18, from the blue car near Walton Way and St. Sebastian. Police said they discovered cocaine in Mays’ possession and crack cocaine in the area near Wright.

Wright and Mays were positively identified by the victim and a witness and charged withtheft by taking, entering an automobile and felony possession with intent to distribute.

Police found two empty shell casings in theblack Accord, which had been stolen from a Yorkshire Drive home.

The vehicle’s owner told police he was unaware the vehicle had been taken.

Police are continuing their investigation.

"Two arrested in GRU garage thefts"

I was wondering if someone figured out a way to steal that fancy
garage that AZZiZZ built.

Visions of a thieves watching Mega-Movers on TV and planning the operation raced through my mind.

If I were going to steal a car

it would not be an Accord or a Civic! Might as well go for the Jag or the Bentley if you're going to steal a car.
Perhaps these folks will be out on the street again by the time the veranda proposal is implemented. A natural hunting ground for them.

honda targeted

honda's are targeted for their ease of access and commonality, which makes it more difficult to stand out as a stolen car..

in a side note, I count 4 people in the witness report, but only two arrests. descriptions and mug shots would be helpful to those of us in the neighborhood of the stolen car to keep a lookout.

Well, none of the thieves, thugs, and punks around here are very bright.

Their IQ is usually somewhere between their number of possible fathers and the number of years their moma will be on welfare. Or put more simply, between 25 and 60.

MCG-ASU police

Well, if nothing else the arrests show the MCG-ASU police are active. They do contribute to the safety of the community. But you would have thought they patrolled those parking garages. People "wandering" around in there should be confronted by the MCG officers.

Maybe they should have

Maybe they should have learned to drive first. One car wrecked, the other traveling the wrong direction.....

If you ask me , no police

If you ask me , no police work was involved,"While taking the report, the officer saw a black Honda Accord traveling the wrong direction in the parking deck. The report said the blue Accord stopped and two black men fled on foot." Recognizing a car driving by does not constitute police work, but at least they got them.
