The trial of a former area high school band teacher accused of having sexual relationships with students began Monday in Richmond County Superior Court.

Anthony Shelton, 42, has pleaded not guilty to three counts of child molestation and three counts of sexual assault against a person in school.

Shelton was arrested after sheriff’s investigators said they found evidence in 2008 that he had sexual contact with students while he was the band director at Butler High School.

Testimony continues today.

Consent

Let's see; the General Assembly changed the law in the past two or three years such that a teacher can no longer use consent as a defense to sexual conduct with a student. But, back in 2008 I think the old law was in effect. If the students were 16 or older, he may get off.

Oooops

I see the unintended double entendre, GnipGnop. I was going to change it to ‘beat the rap,’ but that's not much better.
