LOUISVILLE, Ga. — An Augusta man died Sunday after being shot in the head, said Lt. Robert Chalker, an investigator with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Kenneth Quarterman Jr., 23, was found on the sidewalk in the 500 block of East 5th Street in Louisville shortly after midnight Sunday. He was taken to Jefferson Hospital and airlifted to Georgia Regents University hospital, where he later died.

His body was taken to the GBI Crime Lab in Augusta for an autopsy.

A second man, Charles Lewis Brown III, 25, of Wrens was also shot in the head. He was taken to Jefferson Hospital by a family member. Brown was treated and released.

The victims are related and were reportedly standing near one other when the shooting occurred near Club Apollo, which is on the corner of East 5th and Yahoo streets.

The cause of the shooting is unknown, Chalker said.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Louisville Police Department are also investigating the incident.

Chalker said anyone with information can contact one of these agencies or their local police department.
