The 26-year-old Hephzibah man accused of killing his parents and his brother last month was indicted Tuesday.
A Richmond County grand jury returned a indictment against Ryan David Jones that accuses him of felony and malice murder and weapon violations in each of the deaths of Roosevelt Jones, 65,
Edna Jones, 64, and Russell Jones, 20, on May 21.

Their bodies were discovered in a field near Deer Chase Elementary School when firefighters responded to a brush fire.

Investigators believe the family members were shot in their Pinnacle Place Drive home, according to earlier reports in The Augusta Chronicle.

A possible motive has not been released by law enforcement. Defense and prosecuting attorneys recently agreed that Jones would undergo a mental evaluation.

His parents were retired educators in Richmond County. Russell Jones was a student at Fort Valley State University.

Ryan Jones, a high school graduate, had one previous arrest. He was sentenced to four years of probation under the First Offender Act on Dec. 21, 2007, for theft by receiving. He successfully completed the sentence, according to court records.
