Darrian Antwonn Williams, 24, of the 1600 block of McCauley Street, was arrested at the Augusta-Richmond County Law Enforcement Center shortly after 3 p.m. Friday, a Richmond County Sheriff’s office news release said.

Williams was wanted by investigators in the death of Larry Bernard Elam, 31, on Thursday.

Witnesses told authorities that Williams and Elam had been arguing when Williams drew a gun and shot Elam in the neck area, authorities said Wednesday. Elam was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Williams was booked on charges of murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree, the release said.

Those dang Federal Plantations will be the death of us all. Why don't the Master do something about those housing conditions that are the root of all evil.

I wonder why he's not proudly showing his colors in the mug shot. Interesting that a hardcore gang banger would turn himself in. I wonder if he was worried about retaliation and feels safer in custody?

He did the right thing

He did the right thing turning himself in. What a relief for all affected by this. I hope as always, that truth and justice prevail.

BTW, He goes by the name

BTW, He goes by the name ANTWONN. If you haven't noticed, many of the young men in gangs go by their middle names. I think it would be helpful to the community to try to always indicate the name their friends know them by. It sure would have been helpful during the investigation of the corrupt narcotics/vice officer Ralph TYRONE Williams, too. A lot more people would have realized what was going on a lot sooner.
