The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was called to the park around 12:30 a.m. Thursday and discovered Larry Bernard Elam Jr., 31, with a gunshot wound in the neck and a 5-year-old with injuries to the stomach.
They were taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center, where Elam died about 1 a.m., said Deputy Coroner Kenneth Boose.

The child, who was injured by broken glass, is recovering, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Lt. Calvin Chew said an argument between Elam and the suspect led to the shooting.

Investigators are searching for Darrian Antwonn Williams, 24, of the 1600 block of McCauley Street, on charges of murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and cruelty to children.

Police said Williams usually wears all red, is known to carry a gun and is considered dangerous.

Chew said two others were believed to have been with Williams at the shooting. Their identities have not been released.

Anyone with information on Williams’ whereabouts can contact a violent-crimes investigator at (706) 821-1020 or (706) 821-1080.

Not my problem...

It's up to the black community to stop this violence. Seems like they don't seem to care. Sad...

It is OUR problem because those three hoodlums might strike elsewhere where you or I might be present.

However, you are 100% correct that it is the black community's problem to fix. It is they who continue having multiple children out of wedlock that grow up to be these predators.

Black protecting the punks

Remember this....

When the Riverwalk punks were named ..what happened...why they helped move them to another location out of state....duh duh

When the baby was shot in his stroller in Ga what happened....why the kin lied & said he was with them all that time...now they are facing serious trouble with the law....
As long as this continues...we will see the killings & crap happen....it is THEIR neighborhood & it is time to clean up the riffraff...you have a black Sheriff help him do his job!

could you please tell me how prohibiting law-abiding citizens from owning handguns would have stopped this individual from getting a gun?? since he is on the run but they have a booking picture it looks like "ole darrian" is not a stranger to the system...but of course due to limited space he was let out on parole to rob, steal, and kill again (which he did) when will these politicians get their heads out of their arses and start building bigger and more jails/prisons..oh yeah that's right building jails for rats, roaches, and other vermin will not get them re-elected, its better to waste hundreds of millions of dollars on the TEE CENTER.......

I can see why you might think it better for him to be shot by the police, but even if the police shoot him they have to live with it the rest of their lives. Some officers never recover well from that.

Gang

The headline and the first sentence say, "gang, gang, gang." But in the rest of the story there is no pertinent information about the gang. Who are their leaders? Where is their territory? What are their favorite targets? What is their main source of income? What is the name of the gang? We can presume that red is the color, but what are their signs, their numbers? This story is woefully incomplete. Please change the headline.

Better training for police?

Some years ago I took a course course offered by Public Safety on how and when I could shoot if I feared for my life. I do understand the difference here, sort of.

If you are going to be a policeman, you had better orient yourself into recovery from that possibility. Just like a person in the military.

naacp is always so concerned that a white person is going to practice their form of racism on them that they don't care how many blacks live and die by the gun. Jerks.
