Alanzo Triplin, of Augusta, was approached by a man in a purple sleeveless shirt with short dreadlocks at 2233 Martin Luther King Blvd. shortly after 11 a.m., a police report said.

The man told Triplin to hand over his money, and when he refused, pulled a handgun and demanded money again, the report said.

Triplin tried to defend himself and was shot in the right foot during the scuffle. The robber put the gun to Triplin’s head and again demanded money, after which Triplin handed over his wallet with $400 inside.

Triplin made his way back to the front of the building and asked someone to call the police, the report said.

The robber, described as black between ages 25 and 30, scaled a fence and heading toward Olive Road.

So Irritating

It is so irritating to read about these bums who are robbing everybody. I wish there was a way to do a radical clean up of the crime in this town but unfortunately it would be against the law to do so. :) Really, if you took criminals and flogged them in their own hood and cut off their hands like has been done in other cultures then crime would go down. but as we know this would not work because criminals have rights.

The shot should have been in

The shot should have been in the criminals gut instead of the victims foot and the call for the ambulance should have been slowly made so there would be one less robber to worry about.

Appears to be a perfect example of a case

begging for the use of a concealed carry weapon.

The story indicated that the perp demanded money before he pulled a handgun.

Sounds as though the vic could have moved to as though to comply with the scumbag's demand and come up with his own weapon first.

Don't know all the facts, so I'm JUST SAYING......

Racist and prejudice citizens in the CSRA

I bet Jimmymac doesn't live in Richmond County based on his comments...

Why does the Chronicle allow the daily racial comments related to blacks?

People can't expect to stay in your little comfortable circle, and then want to blame society because their afraid of people who dress, look, etc different..

When was the last time someone shoved the warm end of a firearm into your face or knocked your lights out with a baseball bat?

Blowhard.

You have zero sympathy for victims of crime. None.

Are you reading the same

Are you reading the same news articles as everyone else CM? The same descriptions of perps in crimes come up for 90% (my estimate) of the violent crimes reported. What is "racial" about noting that ?

I guaran-darn-tee you that based on the description of the majority of those responsible for violent crimes in this area, I'm kepping anyone that fits the description at arm's length . That is sanity, not racial.

The truth stands on its on; or in other words, "it is what it is", and the sooner people accept that, the sooner solutions can be implemented.

Um, itsanotherday1

I wasn't commenting on the article, just a posters question about why the Chronicle allows daily racial comments.

Unless of course by your post you meant that allowing daily racial comments 'is what it is' on the Chronicle. If that's the case I stand corrected and agree that a solution must be found.
