A Richmond County deputy arrested two adults over the weekend after a child was discovered living in unfit conditions.

According to a Sheriff’s Office incident report, the deputy was flagged down on Washington Road around 4:20 p.m. in reference to a woman yelling on a cellphone.

The woman, identified as Carolyn Jackson, 29, of the 2800 block of Washington Road, told the deputy her boyfriend, Barret Brown, 29, of Grovetown, let her and their daughter stay at the Parkway Inn, and she did not want to be there any longer.

The deputy said he observed the child with an abundance of bumps or rashes that appeared to be sores, bed-bug bites or scabies and sitting on the ground near the hotel.

The report stated the deputy followed Jackson to her hotel room, which he described as “filthy,” with food on the floor and sink and with clothes and trash strewn throughout the room.

The deputy called an ambulance, which took the toddler to the hospital because of the severity of her condition.

Both parents told the deputy they had told each other to take the child to the hospital but neither did. Jackson told police Brown refused to take the child to the hospital, but he had sought treatment for himself two days earlier after he was bitten by a spider.

Jackson and Brown have been charged with deprivation of a minor.

Brilliant

The child is probably the most reasonable and age appropriate of the three.

If these two losers can't quit bickering with each other long enough to do the most basic care for this child, then this child should be removed from this lousy mother's custody. Anyone can straighten up a room, wash dishes and take out the trash. And even a mentally challenged adult can call for help if their child needs medical attention.

It's no wonder so many of today's adolescents act like savage animals. Parents like these two self-absorbed wing-nuts do little to meet their basic needs, much less bother to teach them how to be decent or successful human beings.

Who wants to bet on drugs, even meth?

Poor baby

Please give that child to a family who will love her and take care of her, before she becomes another statistic.

First Thing I Noticed

Unpublished

The first thing I noticed was the term "boyfriend", followed by "their daughter". Marriage for the "commitment", THEN decide on bringing an innocent child into the world. Let DFACS take care of the poor child, and sterilize the two losers, so that they cannot make this sad situation happen again. The State will raise this child, and I pray that she soars much higher than her apparently worthless parents.

Yeah, sure, Faithson, in your dreams

Margaret Sanger, IMO one of the most evil people to draw air, thought exactly the same way. If she had had her way, there probably wouldn't be very many African Americans left, and things would be a whole lot different.

Believe me, it's bad enough having abortion on demand; we don't need to add yet another nail to the nation's coffin.

Nothing substantial will

Nothing substantial will result from this arrest. The "adults" will get a slap on the hand, and the child will end up back with her "mother". Put the child up for adoption and lock up these animals for at least 10 years.

Start doing this more often, and maybe, just maybe, people will start to understand we won't tolerate people acting like animals.

Abused child

bad parents - but not animals - they - the animals don't leave their young - they fight for them and take care of them. It irks me every time when people put lousy human beings in the same sentence with animals. Think about it!
