Michelle R. Spivey, 21, and Lakisha M. Williams, 25, pleaded guilty in Richmond County Superior Court to a single, reduced charge of robbery.

Judge Carl C. Brown Jr. sentenced each to seven years in prison followed by three years’ probation.

Spivey and Williams were drinking heavily with Barkeem Barclay on July 21 at a motel before the women robbed him, said Assistant District Attorney Falin Syms. They talked Barclay into changing locations and, along the 2400 block of Cunningham Road, two men joined in the plot.

Barclay was shot, robbed of $60 and left in the street.

The sheriff’s investigation into the identity and prosecution of the men is ongoing, Syms said.

Neither Spivey nor Williams, who gave birth in jail while awaiting trial, had criminal records.

Seven years?

They rob a man and try to kill him, and who knows what kind of permanent damage he suffered from being shot in the head, and they get seven whole years in jail.

Heck, they'll still be within their reproductive years when they get out. Somehow, I just don't want them allowed to form other human beings in their own twisted image.

No attempted murder charge?
These 2 savages only got seven years in prison to the followed by three years’ probation?

But then when a person gets caught bootlegging videos get fined 250K and 5 years in jail?

It seems Hollywood is covered, but we have to deal with these savages again in a few years when they hit the streets.

Key sentence

"The sheriff’s investigation into the identity and prosecution of the men is ongoing, Syms said."

Translation: these two thugettes aren't cooperating with authorities and won't cough up the names of their accomplices. Seven years aint nearly enough.

I'm white, conservative and Republican and by

nature down on the side of harsh punishment for all criminals. Still if this is the whole story, I can begin to see some validity to the claim that black on black crime is treated differently.

This kind of treatment tells the perps that killing or maiming one of their own is less of an outrage and almost invites a repeat offense. As in "Who cares???"

It almost screams that a black life means less. If I'm wrong, maybe one of you better informed folks can set me straight.
