Suspect in Riverwalk attack back in Augusta

Kevin Devonte Richardson, 21

A suspect in the May 3 Riverwalk attack of a South Carolina couple is in custody at the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Calvin Chew said Kevin Devonte Richardson, 21, was extradited Tuesday night from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department in Elkhart, Ind., where he had turned himself on May 15.

Richardson is being charged with two counts each of robbery by force and aggravated assault, Chew said.

Richardson is the second suspect arrested in the assault of South Carolina residents Ashley Solesbee and Wesley Spires, who were clubbed with a metal bat or pipe as they sat on a bench on the Riverwalk.

Robey Eugene Moses, 21, was arrested in Newberry, S.C., on May 10 and extradited to Augusta on May 14.
