An Augusta woman is at Georgia Regents Medical Center with a critical stab wound to the chest after Richmond County authorities say she started a fight inside the Family Dollar on Deans Bridge Road.

Acting in self-defense, police say India Upshaw, 27, stabbed Tonya Q. Terry several times to protect herself from an attack around 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Family Dollar at 2914 Deans Bridge Road.

Upon arrival, deputies found Terry with several stab wounds to the chest. She was listed in critical condition on Sunday evening.

Sgt. Monica Belser, of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, said the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been made at this time.

I've heard of

I've heard of bringing a knife to a gun fight, but bringing your fists to a knife fight is just as bad.
