ATLANTA -- State Rep. Tyrone Brooks, D-Atlanta, was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury for allegedly ,misappropriating almost $1 million in charitable funds, the U.S. Attorney’s office said.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the grand jury had been investigating the Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials, which Brooks has served as president. The newspaper reported in February that several officials with the organization had been subpoeaned and been interviewed by the FBI.

Brooks told Channel 2 Action News he had no knowledge of any wrongdoing and said he was not aware of an investigation. Asked in February if the FBI has spoken to him about GABEO or the organization’s finances, Brooks said, “No. They haven’t been to me.”

Brooks said GABEO, founded in 1970, has more than 1,000 members.

I always knew

he was headed for a fall. Nothing but a loud mouthed race baiter. Of course, he will spout the age old defense that a lot of these so called "black leaders" do....... "this is a raciss attempt to discredik me".......

Tyrone is already trying to defer blame to something else.

1946 alleged murders! 50 years ago! Come on, Tyrone!

What is it with politicians

What is it with politicians and honesty? This is why I wouldn't trust a darned one of them any more than a cur dog in an outhouse with a muzzle on.

Don't know anything about this current mess,

but do know that Brooks has used alleged racism and bigotry as a crutch to get his way for decades now.

As do the vast majority of Democrats, black, white, Hispanic, Native American..... Ad nauseam.

When the truth fails you, resort to cries of racism...

We saw decades of the “power

We saw decades of the “power structure” in this town getting away with just about anything. Now the minority community (who is no longer a minority) think it is “their turn”. Doesn't matter that we the people were sick and tired of the shenanigans, Some think it is their God given right to further rip us off, just because it's “their turn”.

BS I say!

I am glad it came under Obama

I am glad it came under Obama. So it must not be racism or political as it would have been under others.

Dues

A caller to the Austin Rhodes Radio Program asked a good question yesterday, “Does the Augusta city government pay dues or make contributions to GABEO?”

Finally

It's been common knowledge that he's been living out of "his" charity for years. Good luck in prison.
