According to a news release, Kevin Ports, 41, was driving eastbound on Gordon Highway about 2 a.m. when he accelerated at a high speed onto Milledgeville Road.

Damed if you do and damed if you don't

OT has taken almost 300 drunks off of the roadways in just over 2 months and the roadway death rate has been drastically reduced. Not enough cops working DUI's & traffic and certain groups complain about lack of police action and many families of those who have died on the roads think the police are failing them. The police then take a pro-active aggressive approach and they are told by other groups it is only about money, not saving lives.

Then you have those that when some other type of incident occurs the questions are asked where were the cops, why are they worrying about DUI's, accidents and deaths on roadways when someone was attacked on Riverwalk. Well, they were out doing their jobs and if less people would drink, drive and kill people on our roadways, they could divert resources in other areas. And, for those who have read anything on the operation, you know that 90% of the officers are from out of the area at no expense to the local taxpayers and they are here for the sole purpose of reducing deaths on our local roadways. There is no reduction in force from other divisions or any areas of the county, to include downtown.

Want more officers? Tell the commission to fund them since they cut over 40 from the budget in the past 3 years and also greatly reduced the jail budget so criminals are released sooner than need be.

This article states that

This article states that Kevin was in a single vehicle crash which makes one think of a car when actually I believe it was a motorcycle he was on. Prayers are needed for this young was told to me so I have no proof, that he is in serious condition, something about loosing a lung, head injuries, and in an induce coma.
