Police probe Augusta brawl video

Police said Monday they are seeking witnesses and information into a downtown Augusta brawl after someone posted a flim clip on the YouTube social media Web site.

Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Calvin Chew said the video, which shows multiple altercations near the front of the New Moon Cafe in the 900 block of Broad Street, was just brought to the attention of investigators after someone found it on the video-sharing Web site.

The video shows several men and women stomping and beating one another with fists near the cafe on Broad Street. Several people can be seen standing around the fight videotaping the incident on their cell phones. The 2-minute video ends when the crowd scatters after sounds like gunshots can be heard.

Chew said police are currently looking into the incident to see if any reports were filed or if witnesses can be found.

The YouTube poster lists the time as 2:31 a.m. April 27.
