The body of Kevin M. Holder, 37, of Swansea, S.C., was found about 4 p.m. off of Hamelin Road, about a tenth of a mile south of Piper Road, according to Capt. Eric Abdullah with the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

The body was found by a landowner who went out to check on his property, he said. It is early in the investigation and no more details can be released, he said.

Holder’s body was sent to Newberry for autopsy, which determined he died from a gunshot wound.

The medical examiner classified the death as a homicide, said Carlton, declining to elaborate on the circumstances.
