Three men were formally charged with drug and weapons offenses Tuesday after leading police on a chase through downtown Aiken the previous day.

According to the Aiken Department of Public Safety, Kentrell Brown, 21, of Augusta, was charged with trafficking crack cocaine, unlawful carrying of a pistol, possession of a stolen pistol, failure to stop for blue lights and no driver’s license.

Rodriquez Jackson, 21, of Aiken, and Rashawn Carter, 23, of Augusta, were charged with trafficking crack cocaine, unlawful carrying of a pistol and possession of a stolen pistol.

After gunfire was reported in the Pinecrest neighborhood about 5:11 p.m. Monday, police attempted to stop the men’s white Chevrolet Malibu as it was driving away from the neighborhood.

The driver sped away, initiating a chase around Aiken and into the central business district. The car was finally stopped at Plunkett Avenue and Laurens Street, where officers arrested the three men.
