Three men are facing an array of charges after leading police on a chase Monday through downtown Aiken, according to Aiken Department of Public Safety.

About 5:11 p.m., an Aiken police officer spotted the men in a white Chevrolet Malibu driving away from the Pinecrest neighborhood, where gunfire had just been reported. Police attempted to stop the Malibu, but the driver sped away, initiating a chase around Aiken and into the central business district, police said.

The car was finally stopped at Plunkett Avenue and Laurens Street and officers arrested the three occupants -- Rodrequiz Kintrell Jackson, 21, of Aiken, Rashawan Vertez Carter, 23, and Kentrell Antonio Brown, 21, both of Augusta.

Officers also found drugs and several firearms after searching the vehicle, police said.

The three suspects were being Aiken County Detention Center on Monday with multiple charges pending, according to a press release.
