THOMSON — A man wanted by law enforcement in four counties was arrested Friday.

McDuffie County sheriff’s deputies arrested Jason Wayne Broome after receiving a tip that he was hiding in a Thomson mobile home. Officers swarmed the residence in the 3000 block of Clark-Reese Road shortly after
3 p.m., taking Broome into custody without incident.

Broome, 31, has been wanted for about two weeks by law enforcement and was the subject of a daylong manhunt April 12 in McDuffie County. He is suspected in car break-in, automobile theft and financial-card fraud cases in McDuffie, Warren and Columbia counties, and in North Augusta.

Sheriff’s Maj. Ronnie Williamson said deputies from McDuffie and Warren counties along with Thomson police and agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation were involved in the arrest. When they arrived at the trailer, officers surrounded it, a shed and a small camper.

When officers knocked on the door, Williamson said Broome answered it and then ran for the back door, but officers were there waiting on him. Two people inside the trailer was taken into custody along with Broome.

Two methamphetamine labs were found in the mobile home. Also confiscated were two high-powered rifles, a .22 semi-automatic rifle and a shotgun. The GBI and a special hazardous materials group were working to clean up the labs and process them for evidence.

Two other people were found in the camper along with an infant. They were also taken to the McDuffie County Law Enforcement Center for questioning. The Department of Family and Children Services was called in to assist with the infant.

Broome was taken to the law enforcement center. Authorities haven’t released what charges will be filed against him.
