Two people are dead and one person is in critical condition after a collision with a logging truck Wednesday in Waynesboro.
Burke County Coroner Susan Salemi said the three occupants of the 1993 Cadillac Deville had to be cut from the vehicle after the driver pulled out in front of a unloaded log truck on Georgia Highway 80 about 8:30 p.m.
The driver, Lerunta Griffin, 21, and his grandfather, Eddie Willie Boyd, 63, both of Waynesboro, were killed. Chequece Herron, 19, of Waynesboro, a backseat passenger who was Griffin’s girlfriend, was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center in critical condition.
Salemi said Griffin fully stopped at the stop sign at the Shell Bluff Spur intersection before pulling out in front of the truck. Griffin was at fault in the crash.
The truck driver was not injured.
