A Richmond County man was arrested Friday after being accused of shoplifting at Augusta Mall. According to a Richmond County’s Sheriff’s Office report, security cameras allegedly caught the man stealing cologne from Macy’s. A Macy’s loss prevention officer later told police the man was selling it across the street from the department store in the parking lot of a hotel.

Ricky Cecil Wright, 54, of Augusta, was charged with shoplifting. Officials say Wright has been seen in the store several times in the past two months, and that he is also a suspect in several thefts from Dillard’s, according to the report.

Augusta Mall is finally cracking down

It was starting to look like Augusta Mall was headed down the path of Regency Mall for a while.

Too many roaming loose teens during school hours and bottom feeders roaming the inside area, A few openly daring security, shoplifting, picking fights, yelling, cussing loudly and more.

We are glad to see a general over all crack down in process to restore some civility to the open areas. We can only hope the crack down just isn't another temporary Golf Event band aide.

Maybe hiring a few Mall Security that are in good enough shape to run the length of the mall need to be hired also?

PLUS A SUGGESTION.
Do away with the Taxi area by the food court. There needs to be More Handicap parking than the 4 or 5 so spots. 30 years ago it might have made sense, but a reconsideration is long overdue.

Enact a NO SAGGIN policy, I don't shop places to see a brats behind and dirty drawers.

augusta mall

Our family refuses to go to the mall because of the lack of security. Gangs of punks roaming around cussing and acting like total idiots are not good business and the mall thus far has done nothing to stop them. Our money spends well in other places.
