Richmond County sheriff’s deputies were searching Sunday for an armed robber who punched, choked and stole $200 in cash from a 41-year-old Augusta woman Friday night after forcing his way into her home.

About 9:45 p.m., a man armed with a handgun knocked on the door of a home in the 2500 block of Sheraton Drive, then forced his way inside when the victim answered.

He punched the victim in the face, grabbed her by the throat, choked her and demanded money. The suspect took $200 in cash from the victim’s purse, then ran away.

The suspect is described as black, slender, approximately 5 feet, 11 inches tall, last seen wearing blue jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt and dew-rag.

Sounds Odd

Just saying the robbery circumstances:
$200 taken,
general description,
clothing,
the normally quiet area.
the gun,
and the robber knowing she had money etc...

It all Sounds Odd.

That is not a great area of town,

and it is quite likely this crime happened exactly as the victim described. Dover, Lyman and Miles streets are adjacent to Sheraton, and there are lots of baddies in that area.

For the safety of my own friends in that general vicinity, I hope they catch this sorry worm.

Even more disturbing and

Even more disturbing and scary is to think of which judge is going to let this person off with a slap on the wrist if or when they are caught. That's what typically happens in AUGUSTA.

Like the one in Atlanta that got shot while attempting to break in. In the words of his defense attorney, " He was just trying to help out his needy family." HE got 10 years, but will probably be out in three.

i don't get it i thought there was no crime during master's week..like in chaicagop when the mayor pleaded with the gang members to "shoot each other, but leave the kids alone" i though the mayor of augusta pleaded with the criminal element in augusta to take a moratorium on assualts, rapes, robberies, burglaries, drug sales/use, vandalism, murders, and other crimes during master's week
