CANTON, Ga. — A Cherokee County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a man suspected of killing two people in Union County.

Sheriff’s office Lt. Jay Baker says deputies spotted a vehicle listed in a Georgia Bureau of Investigation lookout around 11 p.m. Thursday.

Deputies stopped the vehicle and learned the suspect was armed and traveling on foot in the area. They learned the suspect was headed to an address in Canton.

Deputies went to the address and made contact with the suspect around 1:23 a.m. Friday. Baker says the suspect had a gun and refused to drop it when instructed to do so. Both the deputy and the suspect fired.

The suspect was pronounced dead on the scene. The deputy wasn’t injured.

The name of the suspect wasn’t immediately released.

I'm generally impressed that

the law enforcement peeps tend to have much better skills with firearms than the bad guys do. It's not always the case, unfortunately.

Give that sheriff’s deputy an

attaboy, and bill the perp's estate or next of kin for the cost of the ammo.

Hey, ammo isn't cheap anymore thanks to the "leadership" in DC.
