According to a news release, the deputies were called the Zaxby’s at 1702 Walton Way about midnight. Employees there said they were walking to their vehicles after the store had closed when they were approached by two armed men who forced them back inside the business and robbed it of cash.

The suspects were both described as short, black males, perhaps weighing 175 pounds and wearing dark clothing and wielding handguns.

They fled on foot with the money, witnesses said.

I find it interesting that

I find it interesting that the Zaxby's in Columbia County call the Sheriff's Office to standby while the employee's walk to their vehicles, but the ones in Richmond County don't. And as a sidenote, robberies like this are typically committed by current or former employees.

Downtown Crime to vanish for 2 weeks.

in a few days we will not have any reported: muggings, armed robberies, hold ups, or one on one crime problems. Speed traps will stops, Operation Thunder will pause and public drunkenness violations will also cease.

Everybody will be on their best for the Worlds annual best of the best Golf event.

Too bad we can't have other year round events like this.
