According to a news release, Sherry L. Brown was taken into custody at her home on F Court near Lake Olmstead and will be charged with five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

According to police, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was notified Friday that a 10-year-old at T. Harry Garrett Elementary School told officials she had been left unattended with four siblings.

Investigators believe Brown, 28, left home about 10 p.m. Thursday, leaving the 10-year-old to look after her siblings, ages 8, 6, 5 and 4.

The 10-year-old went to school Friday, leaving the 8-year-old to watch the three younger children. Brown was arrested when she returned.

The state Department of Family and Children Services was notified, as were relatives of the children.

10 year old

goes to school - probably his only refuge away from home! Goodness knows how often this "mother" had called upon his "services" before.

GREAT SOCIETY
Unpublished

This is an example of the so called "great society" democrats envisioned when they pushed through the current welfare monster that is sinking the poor of this country. Woman being rewarded for having kid after kid without any consequences. Men fostering kids without any regard and never supporting them and the goverment not doing a thing to stop it. One kid on welfare and either forced sterilization or no welfare for any additional kids. If you have them you support them. These poor kids from this birth donor would be better off never knowing her.

Careful jimmymac you may

Careful jimmymac you may offend someone who has thin skin and doesn't like the only way to stop these baby factories. You can fix most anything but stupid and having 5 children you can not and probably will not ever be able to afford is just stupid.

not the first time

Sadly this happens daily and is 'routine' for some children. There are elementary age children who go home each day and take care of younger siblings until mom gets home from 'work' "around 10:00". This is what the children learn as "normal" family life and then they repeat the same.

I don't have a problem with a 10 or 12 year old watching younger siblings for a couple of hours if "mommy" is working..but NOT after dark.

Why is there so much of this going

on in recent years. Or is it just that the Internet makes it more obvious. Whatever the cause, there must be a cure somewhere. There has to be...

you know i have a big problem that a 10 year old is there taking care of a younger child or children most ten yeat old children would not what to do if something happen to the other child. Where was this mother if you can't take care for your children or get someone other than another young child to watch then you don't need any children
