The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office will be canvassing a section of West Wheeler Parkway today following a number of residential break-ins in the area.

According to statement from police, the effort will begin at 5:30 p.m. and there will be a checkpoint at the top of West Wheeler where the residential area begins. Approximately 60 officers will be going door to door to the 1,300-plus homes passing out flyers. Maj. Scott Peebles will be the point of contact on the scene.

Proactive once again(after Laney Walker grocery store)

The Chronicle has to give Roundtree credit so far. 60 officers does seem like a bit much for property crimes, but I do realize the high property taxes in the area. I can't believe there's over 1,300 residential areas, because the area wasn't even apart of the last Google maps(before 2012). I wonder how many people live on the nearby Roy Roy which is growing too.

Good job

Like the proactive approach, but 60 deputies?

Many hands make light work

But even with 60 deputies, it will take quite a while to hit the 21+ homes slated for each of them.

Master's Week cleaning up of the trash.

Unpublished

Tiger used to stay in a dentist home off West Wheeler. Beyond the point where the ghetto melts into the neuvo riche. Past the point where animals fire guns into the neighborhood school windows.

ANGC move that fence. Move it further out. Enlarge that buffer.

CountyMan, I can see that there are that many

residencies is that area. They are all town-homes and apartments. Nothing wrong with them. I am just saying they can pack a lot of those into a small area. Also, that means it is probably why this area has been targeted for break ins. The crooks can get in and out of a bunch of places in a short period of time.

West Wheeler Parkway

Instead of Roundtree giving his game plan to the AC, why not just put up a billboard, telling the bad guys “stay away from West Wheeler Parkway until further notice”, have a good day.”

Best protection

Great going...have all the eyes watching the area..the neighbors need to know what is happening...we have emails here ....when we see something out of the norm we notify others....sometimes the neighbors are so busy they won't know what happened 2 doors down.....keep it up RCSO...I'm clapping.
