Congressman's son arrested again

James Barrow, 18, faces charges in Athens

ATHENS, Ga. -- Athens-Clarke police arrested 18-year-old James P. Barrow, the son of U.S. Rep. John Barrow, for underage drinking Thursday after he caused a disturbance in his mother’s veterinary clinic.

Police were called about 1 p.m. after the teen entered the business on South Lumpkin Street and caused a disturbance due to this intoxication, according to the report. An officer went into Barrow’s nearby apartment and said he found numerous beer cans, which Barrow admitted drinking. Barrow was charged with underage possession.

This is the third arrest for the teen on alcohol-related charges.

In January, he was arrested on charges of DUI, speeding and simple possession of marijuana.

On Tuesday, he was also arrested by Athens-Clarke police on a charge of underage possession of alcohol and released from jail on a $500 bond.

However, after Thursday’s arrest he was released on a $3,000 bond and required to wear an ankle monitor.

James Barrow lives in Athens. His father, a Democrat from Augusta, is divorced from his mother. An Athens native, John Barrow once served on the Athens-Clarke County Commission.
