Police investigate machete attack

  • Follow Crime & courts

An Augusta man used a machete to defend himself and an ex-girlfriend in a lover’s quarrel Wednesday.

An officer was called to the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center emergency room, where the boyfriend of a local woman was being treated for a three-inch machete wound on his knee, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

The couple began to argue about getting a house together, when the girlfriend asked her boyfriend to leave, and retreated into her ex-boyfriend’s house, where she was staying temporarily.

According to police, the boyfriend charged through the gate and attacked the ex-boyfriend. The ex reached for something to defend himself and picked up a machete, striking the boyfriend in the knee.

Both parties declined to press charges, according to police.

“The ex reached for something”?! Nothing like having a spare machete or two laying around – just in case.

Young Fred - want a bigger laugh

Google O.C.G.A. § 16-6-18.

After you wipe your nose (again)☺

Think about the application and prevention IF it could be enforced.

Oh me...

the comic relief we receive in the news. Sometimes it outshines the bad stuff, if only for a moment. I almost lost my coffee too, Fred.

hit it first. Only a matter of time before we get calls for background checks prior to purchase of machetes, blade length limits, etc......

I remember the good old days when we discussed frying pans and hammers as weapons.

"They were used back....

in wars back in history."

The murdering communist dictator, Pol Pot made extensive use of machetes not that long ago in the killing fields of Cambodia.

Not that far back in history.

Darby - Pol Pot

Also used Plastic Bags.

BUT, it ain't fair to expect socialists/communists to ban their own tools for voter pacification.

Good grief. How many times

Good grief. How many times have machetes been used in the last several years in Augusta? Three that I can remember offhand. Didn't realize they're so common. Not to mention the behavior. In more ways than one.
