According to a news release, police were called to the 2000 block of Ellis Street shortly before 11 p.m. Deputies discovered Michael Antonio Martin Jr., 29, with a gunshot wound to the hip.
Police said Martin was having a cookout at his residence when a man he did not know pulled up to the residence in a grayish-blue sedan and asked to see Martin. The man fired a rifle as Martin neared the vehicle.
Martin was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center for his injuries.
