ATLANTA — Police in Atlanta are searching for the driver of a hit-and-run crash in which a bicyclist was dragged and then died in the street.

Atlanta police say 54-year-old Walter Amey of Atlanta was hit around 9 p.m. Sunday on Abner Place, not far from his home.

Atlanta police Sgt. Grey Lyon tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that officers and paramedics initially thought Amey had been shot. Lyon said that after examining him, they determined he had been struck by a vehicle and dragged.

Amey was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Investigators early Monday were looking for anyone with information about the crash.

Wonder why they initially thought he had been shot?

They knew him personally and his business enterprise? A grown man on a bicycle at 9pm? He was not wearing a helmet and reflective clothing?

I hope they find the person that did this. I had 2 "crotchrockets" fly around me weaving in and out of about 20 other cars yesterday in Atlanta, doing at least 85. They should be in jail.
