Man charged in convenience store robberies in Columbia and Richmond counties

A Riverdale, Ga., man wanted in connection with convenience store robberies in Columbia and Richmond counties was arrested early Thursday.

Khatrell Rashon Harris, 21, of Riverdale, Ga., was arrested early Thursday for convenience store robberies in Columbia and Richmond counties.

Khatrell Rashon Harris, 21, of Bald Eagle Way, was arrested in Richmond County and charged with three counts of armed robbery, robbery by force, aggravated battery, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is being held in the Richmond County jail without bond, according to jail records.

He also is wanted in Columbia County on charges of armed robbery, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Harris is one of two men accused of using a handgun to rob the Fuel Express on Jimmie Dyess Parkway near Interstate 20 on Feb. 8. The men pointed semi-automatic pistols at the cashier and demanded money, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

The cashier gave the men the cash and they ran out the front doors.

Harris also is a suspect in at least one armed robbery in Richmond County: the Feb. 7 robbery of the BP station on Gordon Highway in Augusta.

Anyone convicted of being a felon in possesion of a gun should get an automatic life without parole sentence
