An Augusta man accused of trying to have a sexual relationship with an underage girl is scheduled for arraignment in U.S. District Court on Thursday.

Fawad S. Syed, 46, is charged with attempted online enticement of a minor and two counts of destruction of records in a federal investigation.

Syed is accused of communicating online with a person authorities led him to believe was a 14-year-old girl. He was arrested Feb. 8 at a location he believed was the girl’s home.
