A Grovetown man turned himself in Wednesday on child cruelty charges.

Thomas Jay Adams, 32, of Phinizy Street, is charged with two counts of cruelty to children. He’s being held in the Columbia County Detention Center on $50,200 bond, according to jail records.

The 15-year-old brother of Adams’ wife said Adams often argued and sometimes physically fought with him and his 12-year-old brother, who also lived in the Phinizy Street home, according to Grovetown Department of Public Safety Investigator Jones Nalley.

On Jan. 29, the 15-year-old went to the department to report that an argument turned physical, with Adams punching at least one of the boys in the head, Nalley said.

The Department of Family and Children Services removed the boys from the home. They are staying with other family members, Nalley said.

I do not agree with any aldut hitting any child in the head but at the same time my 15 year old daughter has stood in my face and cussed me for everything you could image and worse and as i stood there with my mouth hanging open slaped me servarl times! And yes after the 3rd time she slaped me i slaped her [filtered word] back! And when i told her i was gona call the cops her response was GO AHEAD [filtered word] YOUR TAKE THAT RIDE WITH ME! so dont get me wrong dont know this man at all but i do know teenagers today and some of them hell most of them know they have the upper hand when it comes to the law so they hit and cuss their parents like we are dogs just sayin i think the cops and defeas should look very carefully into this matter before ruinin this mans life with these kind of charges!
