Trial began this morning for an Augusta man accused of beating another man to death last year.

Earnest E. Dailey Jr., 39, has pleaded not guilty in Richmond County Superior Court to murder charges.

Dailey was charged with malice and felony murder in the Feb. 1, 2012, beating of 32-year-old Jermaine D. Little. When the victim was found outside the Paul’s IGA on Greene Street, his injuries were so severe officers at first thought he had been shot. Little died three days after he was assaulted.
