Hollie Roberts, driver in 2011 drunken driving crash, has probation sentenced revoked

  • Follow Crime & courts

A judge ordered a Blythe woman, whose drunken driving car wreck in 2011 seriously injured a passenger, to be jailed 60 days Thursday for violating the terms of her probation.

In June, Hollie Roberts, 23, was sentenced to 15 years’ probation for the crime of serious injury by vehicle. It was her first criminal offense, and Richmond County Superior Court Judge James G. Blanchard Jr. granted her first offender status.

Roberts, according to court records, was driving under the influence and at high speed Aug. 20, 2011, on Bath Edie Road when she crashed. Passenger Brian Thomas Johnson, the father of her 9-month-old child, suffered a fractured skull, broken arms and severe burns on both legs.

On Aug. 8, Roberts was arrested on a charge of misdemeanor possession of marijuana after a traffic stop. She also tested positive for methamphetamine in a Nov. 5 drug screening.

Roberts has been clean and compliant with all of the conditions of probation since November, probation officer James Lance testified Thursday. The marijuana charge, which Roberts said resulted because a passenger had marijuana when she was stopped, is pending.

Once a drunk, sadly

Once a drunk, meth user, pot smoker - sadly probably always will be - unless she gets some serious help. Her probation should have been revoked the minute she tested positive for meth.

must be borderline, mentally. So say lawyers and advocacy groups who wish not to punish lawbreakers. She deserves 2 more mulligans. Lying is a course taught at all law schools. Shifting blame to another is part of the curriculum offered at law school. Wonder why obama's such an accomplished LIAR?

Yes

So many are in support of legalizing marijuana. Just another influence to add to deaths on the highways.
