An Augusta man is facing charges after going to a place he believed to be the home of a 14-year-old girl to start a relationship, police said.
Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Calvin Chew said Fawad Shah Syed, 46, initiated online conversations Feb. 8 with a sheriff’s investigator posing as a teen on a social network.
Conversations continued between them for several days.
On Monday, Syed arrived about 11:30 p.m. at a place he believed to be the teen’s home, where police met him. Chew said the suspect had undisclosed items in his possession to start relations with the girl.
Syed has been charged with criminal attempt child molestation.

I seriously hope that Sheriff's investigators have better things to do other than hanging out online in chat rooms posing as teens, especially during a week that reported almost 200 crimes, including 11 robberies, 85 assaults, and 48 burglaries.
"online dating"....I'd seriously change the name of the article on the other page and not imply this is only online dating.
