Teen sentenced to prison for molestation

A judge sentenced an Evans teen to 25 years in prison Monday for aggravated child molestation.

Superior Court Judge J. David Roper sentenced Blake Davis Weems, 18, after he pleaded guilty. The sentence is the mandatory minimum for the charge.

Weems was charged June 12 for numerous sex crimes including aggravated child molestation after a 13-year-old girl said he’d molested her for about a year beginning when she was 12. The girl said Weems forced her to have sex and commit other sex acts with him, according to the Columbia County sheriff’s report.

Roper said Weems could remain on house arrest, as he has been for five months, and turn himself in to the Columbia County Detention Center on Monday.
