Police are asking for help to find a woman caught on surveillance video using a stolen debit card.

Police are asking for help to find a woman caught on surveillance video using a stolen debit card.


The woman was seen using the card at the Wells Fargo ATM at 3128 Deans Bridge Road.

There are folks that write their PIN number down and keep it in their wallet...that, and they pick something obvious like last 4 of SSN, etc. Depending on how she got the debit card- if she lifted a wallet - that could have happened. Not to mention there are skimmers out there on ATMs that allow thieves to clone cards..

Thanks for the comments. I would have never thought of those. The only place my PIN# is recorded is in my skull. But it's more difficult to protect against those skimmers.

Skimmers

Yeah, GAD - most people don't notice them - they are attached to the face of the ATM and the thieves work them remotely.. They don't keep them on the ATM for long periods, but long enough to do damage. Here's a link if anyone wants more info on them...

Great info--thanks. The best thing I can think of is use indoor ATMs whenever possible.
