According to a release from the Richmond County Sheriff's Office, Quinterious Denzel Roberson was leaving a business about 1:45 a.m. in the 200 block of 11th Street when he saw someone in his vehicle in the parking lot. Roberson told deputies he challenged the man, who got out, pulled a gun and demanded money. Before Roberson could comply, the gunman fired a shot, hitting Roberson just above his left knee.
Roberson was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center with a nonlife-threatening wound, deputies said.
Police continue to look for the gunman, described as a black man with shoulder-length dreadlocks in a white T-shirt and dark jeans.
