5 students arrested at Swainsboro High School after gun rumor

  • Follow Crime & courts

Reports of a gun on campus at Swainsboro High School on Thursday led to a school lockdown and the arrest of five students.

A Swainsboro High administrator was told at 10 a.m. that a student might have a handgun on school property, according to an Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office news release.

The student suspected of having the gun was isolated, and the school was placed on lockdown for about three hours while authorities searched for a weapon.

Officers didn’t find a gun but found out that gang activity among students led to the rumor of a weapon on campus.

Five juvenile students were arrested and will face charges related to gang affiliation. Their names were not released.

When I went to Swainsboro

When I went to Swainsboro High, there were guns on campus everyday. They were openly displayed on gun racks and on the front seat so everybody could see them. We had plans of shooting deer and cans after school. Now guns are smuggled in the school in back packs with plans of shooting their classmates

What changed? Did guns become more evil or did the people carrying them become more evil?

So these occupants are being arrested for somebody's suspicion? When did we start doing that?

Here's what probably

Here's what probably happened: they locked down the school and then found no weapon. They HAD to do something to save face. The gang activity charge is what they're going with. A mediocre lawyer could probably get this tossed. Remember 'Blazing Saddles'? "gentlemen, gentlemen, we need to think of something to protect our phoney baloney jobs!".
