A woman’s car was stolen Sunday morning from a parking lot while she attended Tabernacle Baptist Church on Laney Walker Boulevard, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

The victim told police she locked the vehicle at 10:15 a.m. in the church’s overflow parking area and realized the navy blue Dodge Intrepid was missing when she tried to leave about 2 p.m.

A deputy found glass and debris from the window frame in the parking space where the thief gained entry.

Security

In this day and age, Churches should have someone on security of premises to prevent these type of occurrences. A simple Google search for “Church shooting” will yield multiple reports of violence, much of which is preventable with a well placed, armed member with a watchful eye. The most recent shooting….yesterday in St Louis. Long live the 2nd amendment!

Same problem in these parts

I'm not trying to raise the "fear" level as some think...but the Atlanta area has had the same incidents........just like shooting ducks on a pond.....easy prey at church....watch them go in & know at least they have a few hours to do their dirty deed.

We should do to people who

We should do to people who steal cars the same thing we used to do with people who stole horses. Stealing someone's car is not a simple property crime. It is a livelihood and way of live crime that profoundly impacts people, particularly lower income people who may not be able to afford comprehensive insurance or who are driving an older car that could not be replaced for what the insurance would pay. More severe punishments would deter car thefts. I say we go back to hanging them.

Even though there are

Even though there are criminals EVERYWHERE, these part of town isn't exactly populated by Puritans. And the ones who are, were most likely inside, listening to the sermon.
