Bond was denied Friday in Richmond County Superior Court for Marcus A. Leverett, 28, who is charged with aggravated assault and weapon violations. His 2005 probation sentence for a cocaine possession charge – his only prior felony offense – could be revoked.
Leverett was arrested in the Dec. 7 afternoon shooting of 19-year-old Richard Mills in the Pak-N-Go convenience store on Olive Road.
Witnesses told investigators that Leverett followed Mills into the store and fired at him repeatedly. Mills was wounded in the chest and legs. Leverett told investigators that he shot Mills for having robbed him earlier of all of his Christmas money.
