Augusta man pleads guilty to beating pregnant sister

An Augusta man who repeatedly punched his pregnant sister and fought off attempts by three other women to stop him pleaded guilty Thursday.

Chauncy P. Johnson, 19, was sentenced to one year in prison followed by four years’ probation for terroristic threats and family violence battery. Attending a family violence prevention program is a condition of probation. Johnson pleaded guilty in Richmond County Superior Court.

Assistant District Attorney Titus Nichols told the judge Johnson got into an argument Oct. 19 with his sister, who was seven months pregnant, and punched her numerous times in the face and body. Three other women were injured when they tried to intervene.
