Richmond County investigators are asking for help in finding two people spotted on surveillance videos committing separate crimes at Augusta businesses.

Police are seaching for a woman who used a stolen credit card number at Rack Room Shoes Jan. 12. The suspect is described as a black woman with short black hair who was wearing a white shirt at the time of the purchase.

Police are searching for a woman who used a stolen credit card number to make an unauthorized purchase of $94.48 at Rack Room Shoes on Jan. 12.

The credit card had a number belonging to a 75-year-old Arizona man who still had his card at the time of the transaction.

The suspect is described as a black woman with short black hair who was wearing a white shirt at the time of the purchase.

Police are also searching for man who took an employee’s cellphone at Dollar General, 2549 Deans Bridge Road, on Jan. 13.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 821-1020.

How does that happen?

How many stores do you know of that will let you charge a purchase without having the actual card? Sounds to me like she had someone inside getting a cut of the action.

Something Smells Funny

I guess I would be asking the clerk who was on duty just how did someone without a credit card purchase something from them. This is not rocket science. I'm sure the photo is available with the clerk completing the transaction. You know, there is a reason why those actual credit cards are issued in the first place.
