The Richmond County Bomb Squad assisted at a home in Grovetown on Wednesday morning after a suspicious item was discovered in a resident’s yard.

According to a sheriff’s office news release, a Summerfield Circle resident notified Grovetown police after he discovered a plastic sandwich bag filled with a white, powdery substance with what appeared to be a stem or wire in it.

The bomb squad did a field assessment and determined the item was not dangerous. It has been sent for testing.

SummerFIELD Circle not Summerville Circle.

Please correct article, it should read Summerfield Circle not Summerville Circle, shouldn't it?

Grovetown's finest called

... the bomb squad? It's Grovetown; didn't read the writing "Dixie Crystals" on the package. Thought it was a themonuclear device. In all fairness, they were in a hurry; had to rush off to prevent a mass slaying by a six year old with an assault nerf gun.
