An Augusta woman was robbed at gunpoint Thursday afternoon outside her home on Merry Street, police said.

The 24-year-old woman was walking home from the Circle K gas station at the corner of Highland Avenue and Wrightsboro Road. Before she reached her front door, two armed men approached her from behind and hit her in the head with a handgun, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

One took a handgun from her waistband, along with her purse, and a money order from the gas station.

The men fled in a tan SUV and were last seen driving north on Merry Street about 1:20 p.m. Thursday.

The two suspects were described as black men in their mid-20s. One was wearing a gray shirt and jeans. The other was wearing a plaid shirt and jeans.

A third suspect, the driver, was described as a black man in his mid-20s with long dreads.

Use that waistband handgun the next time!

Maybe the next time she will be more cautious and wary of her surroundings and better prepared to use her handgun at that instant when only seconds count.

Sickening is right

And this is our new normal.....& some wonder why we need guns for protection ALL THE TIME......Yes..I know she had one & didn't get to use the thing...too bad she didn't get to pull it....they probably watched her at the store---followed her with the plan to ambush..

???

Something sounds fishy, here. It is a lo - o - o - ong walk from Highland and Wrightsboro back to Merry St. Especially since there is a convenience store nearby on Central Ave. However, it could be that the woman worked at the Circle K at Highland & Wrightsboro and was walking home from work. Anyway, one thousand thumbs down at the scum who mugged her and stole from her. My heart goes out to her.

That area around Merry Street was a great neighborhood not too long ago, but it has gone the way of Autumn Leaves’ and SeenIt’s old neighborhoods. There are still a few good folks left there. Looks like they’re becoming prey.

Very few safe areas anymore

What happens in these areas will be in your backyard soon....you can't run & you can't hide.....some might feel fairly safe tonight....protect yourself.

Change we can believe in......
Unpublished

a Third World Village is coming to your neighborhood very soon. Hunter Gatherers wander the plains in search of subsistence.

Funny, but not funny how some of the old southern racial stereo types seem true. Wandering around looking for some mischievous activity.

Where is the dream? Do they know the dream? Do they embrace the dream? Or is the dream a reality for those who already have respect for themselves and others?

The government wants to

The government wants to protect these guys by banning you from having capable handguns. Do you think these guys will send DiFi a registration form for their guns?

Under DiFi's proposed

Under DiFi's proposed legislation this woman could possibly be prosecuted for not securing her gun and allowing it to fall into the hands of criminals.

Desperate times & criminals

Criminals must be desperate to attack an armed citizen (even from behind). Be prepared at all times.

Anyone advocating the "violation/infringing" of citizens Second Amendment Rights is a enemy of the AMERICAN Constitution/Bill Of Rights and those that pass (so called) laws violating/infringing citizens Rights , including the Second Amendment Right, are committing "crimes" against America and should be arrested by police or by Citizen arrest & charged with treason.

Glad to see no one so far is

a just a plain negative suspicious cynic here.
Like wondering about the story details.

However why have a concealed weapon, carrying $$$$, and not paying attention to your surroundings?

Now we may have a stolen handgun on the streets.
That may end up being traced back to this report.

I hope she heals ok and the pistol is located quickly.

Not a very good neighborhood

Not a very good neighborhood to walk in. It was either a coincidence or they followed her.
