Copper lines cut at church

An intruder cut the copper lines of an air conditioning unit and freezer at Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Augusta last week, but never made off with the goods.

Between Jan. 13 and 15, someone cut the lines to the church’s walk-in freezer and air conditioning unit, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

Thieves normally steal the valuable copper tubing from air conditioners to sell as scrap metal. In this case however, the copper was left behind. A church security worker reported no other damage.
