Richmond County authorities are investigating the theft of several appliances from an Augusta-Richmond County Housing Authority property in the Barton Village neighborhood, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.

A neighbor called police about 4 p.m. Monday to report a suspicious vehicle parked at the authority’s maintenance building at 3619 London Blvd. The neighbor told police she saw two people load the appliances on a trailer attached to a black Ford Expedition and drive away, according to the report.

Robert Holmes, with the Housing Authority, told deputies that three stoves and three refrigerators had been stolen from the property.

I would tell the residents

I would tell the residents that if any of those appliances break in any of the units they will not be replaced because the extras have been stolen. The residents may be able to exert pressure to get the applicances returned and prevent future thefts.
