A former Richmond County sheriff’s investigator accused of sexual assault in November has been indicted on a rape charge.

A Columbia County grand jury indicted David Timothy Dutton, of Keene Street in Martinez, on charges of rape, aggravated sexual battery, unlawful surveillance and giving false information, according to records released Thursday.

A 27-year-old woman told Columbia County authorities Nov. 12 that she was looking through Dutton’s phone and found videos of them having sex the previous night, according to a sheriff’s report. The woman said she wasn’t aware she had sex or that it was filmed. She said she had taken her prescription medication and gone to sleep and has no recollection of the sexual encounter, according to the report.

At first, Dutton told deputies the woman consented. He admitted recording the encounter without her knowledge, according to the report. Dutton erased the videos and pictures after he took the phone back.

Dutton, who was suspended from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office pending a review of his case, resigned Nov. 26, according to Lt. Calvin Chew.

Ambien

I have heard that once you take this drug to go to sleep, you can be awakened, and told what to do and you will comply and never recall having done anything that you were told to do. This drug should be taken off the market!

Deny, deny, deny!

... I see two possible futures for this man; he can become Columbia County's new official grass checker, or in a few years run for sheriff in Richmond County.

The rest of the story...

Should be very interesting once it goes to trial. Oh and from the previous headline about the same case "charged with sexually assaulting his wife"
Feel bad for the kids/family involved. No pity at all for the accuser or accused. Two dumb people that do dumb things constantly.

Ambien at least taken by my Ex Wife is that and a bag of chips. I can't tell ya'll how many things she did without remembering.A few of those times it required finding her car! The scary part was she seemed sober in speach and actions till she would come to then have a different memory of what had happened and when things happened. One night she got out of bed left the house and was found impaired driving down Washinton Road by a friend who talked her into going back home with her. The only way I found her car was her guardian angle left a note guiding to where the car was. She didn't remember leaving the house!
